Meeting of the London Zapatista Support Group.
'THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW': Sunday 9th
January, 5.30pm.
LONDON RISING TIDE FILM NIGHT presents 'THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW' and
'Cheeky Apocalypse'. The Day After Tomorrow is Hollywood's highly
melodramatic take on climate chaos - does it work as a wake-up call, or
is it just entertainingly hysterical popcorn-fodder? Cheeky Apocalypse
is an explosive short film highlighting the way UK television dealt
with the record-breaking heatwave of August 2003. The screening is
free, and will be followed by a discussion and food. This will be a
space to learn, debate and share ideas for action on issues raised by
the film, as well as on climate change itself - probably the greatest
threat humanity has ever faced. See www.londonrisingtide.org.uk

Tide UK

Stuff The Bid!: Friday 21st January,
7.30pm. "The Olympic 2012 bid, that is. The idea is
to start doing things against it now and to organise a sort of
ripples-in-the-pool series of meetings to draw in wider and wider
circles of the many people opposed to the bid. Time is short. The
decision will be made in July 2005, but the olympic assessment team
will be visiting London 16-18th February. A very influential factor,
which they will be assessing, is how much support the bid does or
doesn't have amongst people in London. That's why Seb Coe & Co.
are now blahing up 70% support on some rigged poll or other. The more
people are told about the implications of the bid (not much up to now),
the less support it gets. So the aim is to get some really kicking
opposition to it being manifest big in the middle of February." See: www.nolondon2012.org/

Burns Night!: Tuesday 25th January,
7pm. south london radical history group presents a

Fuck the Bid!: Friday 4th Feb, 7.30pm.
The Olympic 2012 bid, that is. Latest in the ripples-in-the-pool series

Rising Tide Film Night: Sunday 6th
February, from 5.30pm.
LONDON RISING TIDE FILM NIGHT presents
'REACH FOR THE SKY', a radical Undercurrents documentary on
aviation, airport expansion and climate change. The film also looks at
why we need to take action on these issues, and why the battle to save
the planet from climate chaos is far from over. And
'THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND'... Fuelled by outrage over the Vietnam War
and racism in America, the Weathermen went underground during the
1970s, bombing targets across the country that they felt symbolised the
real violence that the U.S. government and capitalist power were
wreaking throughout the world. Followed by a talk from an
ex-Weatherman.

7pm.
Weekly meeting of the London Zapatista Support Group. email
semillarebelde @ riseup.net
Rising Tide Film Night: Sunday 3rd
April, from 5.30pm. LONDON RISING TIDE FILM NIGHT
presents
"The Fourth World War" and "Green Gold". From the front-lines of conflicts in Mexico,
Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, 'the North' from Seattle to
Genoa, and the 'War on Terror' in New York, Afghanistan, and Iraq. It
is the story of men and women around the world who resist being
annihilated in this war. While our airwaves are crowded with talk of a
new world war, narrated by generals and filmed from the noses of bombs,
the human story of this global conflict remains untold. "The Fourth
World War" brings together the images and voices of the war on the
ground. It is a story of a war without end and of those who resist.
"Green Gold" - This film tells the story of Sajida Khan, a South
African woman with a hazardous dumpsite on her doorstep. Her neighbours
are dying but the World Bank calls the dump a "world class example of
an environmental project". How can this be? And why does the new Carbon
Emissions Trading Scheme play a major role? The film maker will be
present. All are welcome to the free screening, followed by a
discussion and something to eat. This will be a space to learn, debate
and share ideas for action on issues raised by the films. If you have a
short film focussing on oil climate change or a related issue please

and investment potential of Iraq". That is, to plan and discuss the
sell-off of Iraq's assets, properties and resources. Iraq Procurement
conferences are sponsored by arms dealers, mercenaries and oil giants
such as Erinys, Raytheon, Shell, Chevron and Bayer who meet to discuss
the future of Iraqi "agriculture, comunications, construction,
education, energy, finance, healthcare, IT, Oil & Gas,

Rising Tide Film Night: Sunday 8th
May, from 6.30pm. LONDON RISING TIDE FILM NIGHT
presents
"The End Of Surburbia" and The 2 minute
comedy classic 'Hercubush' plus a short G8 Surprise!.
As the population of suburban sprawl has exploded in the past 50 years,
so too the suburban way of life has become embedded in the American
consciousness. Suburbia, and all it promises, has become the American
Dream. But as we enter the 21st century, serious questions are
beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. The
consequences of inaction in the face of the global environmental crisis
are enormous. What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy
prices skyrocket in the coming years, how will the populations of
suburbia react to the collapse of their dream? Are today's suburbs
destined to become the slums of tomorrow? And what can be done NOW,
individually and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia? All are
welcome to the free screening, followed by a discussion and something
to eat. This will be a space to learn, debate and share ideas for
action on issues raised by the films. If you have a short film
focussing on oil climate change or a related issue please get in touch
